Ask what the diagnosis actually was
Not 'it's low on refrigerant' — refrigerant does not get used up, so if it is low, there is a leak, and the leak is the repair. A quote that skips the cause is a quote for the same visit again next summer.

Service call · Austin & Central Texas
A technician comes out, evaluates the system and identifies the issue. If you approve the repair, the $100 is credited toward it. If you decide against the repair, the $100 stands as the fee for the visit. You know the visit fee before we get in the truck, and any repair or replacement is quoted from what we actually find.

What happens next
To ask what the system is doing, what you have already tried, and to find a time. If you can send a photo of the outdoor unit's data plate, it usually shortens the visit.
Flat $100, or $150 after hours and on holidays. Gauges on the system, a look at the electrical, the airflow, the drain and the ductwork — enough to say what is actually wrong rather than what is easiest to sell. If you approve the repair, the $100 is credited toward it. If you decide against the repair, the $100 stands as the fee for the visit.
In plain language, with the reasoning. Including 'this is a $40 part' and including 'this system is done and here is why', because both of those happen.
Repairs, replacements and installations are quoted against your actual scope. You approve the number before anything starts.
What we publish
Four rows, and three of them are real numbers. The fourth is the honest answer for work nobody can price without seeing it.
$100
flat, during business hours
A technician comes out, evaluates the system and identifies the issue. If you approve the repair, the $100 is credited toward it. If you decide against the repair, the $100 stands as the fee for the visit. Either way you know the number before we get in the truck.
$150
flat, nights, holidays and outside Saturday hours
The same visit outside normal business hours, or on a holiday. Nights, weekends outside Saturday hours and holidays are $150 instead of $100.
$300
per system, per visit
One comprehensive maintenance visit for one system. It is a single visit, not an annual price and not a plan you sign up for — book it when you want it. A house with two systems is two visits' worth of work and is priced as two.
Quoted per job
in writing, before any work starts
Priced against your actual scope — the type of system, the equipment required, the installation conditions and the work involved. Nobody can put a real number on that without seeing it, so we do not pretend to.
Warranty
1-year labor warranty
Every unit has different warranty terms depending on the manufacturer. We typically offer a 1-year labor warranty on units and mini-split systems that we install. Parts warranties vary by manufacturer and unit.
Financing
AC Credit Service
Financing is available through AC Credit Service, an outside financing company. Rates, terms and approval decisions are theirs, not ours — their site has the details.
Go to AC Credit ServiceOne thing to be clear about
What a job costs depends on the type of system, the equipment required, the installation conditions and the work involved — attic access, line set length, electrical, duct condition, drain routing, whether the pad and the disconnect can stay. Anyone who quotes you a replacement number sight unseen is quoting a starting point they intend to move.
So the numbers we do publish are real and they are flat: $100 for the service call, $150 if it is after hours or a holiday, and $300 per system for one preventive maintenance visit. If you approve the repair, the $100 is credited toward it. If you decide against the repair, the $100 stands as the fee for the visit. Everything else gets quoted after somebody has looked.
Before you hire anyone
Not 'it's low on refrigerant' — refrigerant does not get used up, so if it is low, there is a leak, and the leak is the repair. A quote that skips the cause is a quote for the same visit again next summer.
On a replacement, equipment sized off the old unit's tonnage repeats whatever mistake was made the first time. An oversized system in this humidity short-cycles and leaves the house cold and clammy.
HVAC contractors in Texas are licensed by TDLR, and the licence number is supposed to appear in advertising. Ask for it, and check it. That goes for us too — ours is TACL #TACLB139042E, and it is in the footer of every page on this site.
